Han Dynasty Hanfu
Han Dynasty hanfu features cross-collar, right-lapel robes. The iconic shenyi (deep robe) merged tunic and skirt into one piece. Both sexes wore quju, a curved-wrap robe spiraling around the body and tied with a wide sash; men also wore straight-hem zhiju. Broad sleeves symbolized grace. Made from silk or hemp in status colors—black for officials, plain for commoners—this style reflected Han values of modesty, elegance, and social hierarchy.
